Note from Guru Kurt: It seemed to me for a time that this fellow might be interested in spiritual growth, but alas, time has shown that he was merely dabbling. Where, Oh where, are those whose spiritual consciousness has been awakened? I have not met any such. Could it be that the allure of the world has trapped even the spiritually elite into a downward-seeking spiral of self-destructive materialism? I find it difficult to draw another conclusion. Even the followers of illumined people, and the church- and mosque-going masses, seem trapped in a materialistic frenzy, unable to consider the true needs of their soul, and the importance of overcoming death while they are still alive. Perhaps on my next visit here, I shall not find things in such disarray! (In the "faith forum" I used the screen name jayceeii, and I have included "Sword of Truth's" reply to an earlier post of mine.)

Jayceeii, I am glad to see a believer not saying "my religion is right yours is wrong" it shows that you yourself are more open minded than most other believers of 'God'. I myself am fully willing to believe in God if he simple showed me he does exist. my mind is fully open to him but all I have been shown is books about how great he is and about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. this does not show me God this shows me a book, ok yes its well written and the writers where very intelligent, but so was Plato does that mean we should all strive to build his 'republic' ?? I am told I have to open my heart to God then I will see him, but how am I to open my heart to something I can not recognize with my 5 senses.
I see he idea of God as to simply answer the unanswerable. man has been shown not to like what he does not know and understand, God provides the easy answers, God gives man a purpose, the devil gives man someone to blame.

Sword of Truth:

I would not call myself a believer. I am something else. Your response is quite thoughtful and interesting. Looking at Christianity is indeed disheartening, when one begins to feel a true longing for the vision of God. Jesus did not speak to such as yourself, who are beginning to feel the stirrings of a deeper passion for the divine. As He said, He came for the sinners, and not the elect. He did not give mankind any inkling as to what the kingdom of heaven was, except to say that it was to be found within us. He did this on purpose, because for people whose spiritual consciousness has not yet been awakened, a formulaic religion is the best alternative. “Be good and you go to heaven; commit evil and you are damned to hell. Satan is everywhere, and will mislead you. Indeed, he is responsible for most of the evil on the earth!” All of these statements are true, but Jesus did not explain their meaning. I will now explain them. Heaven is the state of illumination; what else would you call a state of never-ending bliss, which is where the illumined find themselves? Hell is a real punishment adjudicated by the Father, who is a real spiritual being that has created all of us and oversees our world, the Almighty. It does not last forever, but can last a billion years or more. Is this not close enough to forever for those who suffer there? Satan is a false representation, an external personification of the evil tendencies of mankind. The primitive mind will not accept that the source of all good on earth, and all evil too, is itself. When you tell primitive people about the existence of a devil, it helps them to learn that evil is not good and that they should steer their behavior away from it.

Fortunately, hell is reserved only for unrepentant sinners, the most evil and wicked among mankind. God works with all the rest to help them develop their spiritual awareness, and ascend unto illumination at last. For this reason, Jesus emphasized the forgiveness of God, which is readily extended provided the evil is not too great, and the repentance felt is real. Yet, Jesus annoyingly left most practical instruction out of His discourse, and never discussed the subtleties of spiritual living, which become the highest motivators for those who are spiritually advanced, and among whom you may perhaps count yourself a member. When I was younger, I also felt a great spiritual longing that was not met by Christianity. I sought guidance from a Hindu spiritual teacher, an illumined man by the name of Eknath Easwaran. Here at last I found the spirituality that I sought, for this man existed as a powerhouse of divine energy and dynamic wisdom. Sitting at his feet, I learned the great truth that within the hearts of each of us dwells the Self or Atman, which is a divine manifestation of the Father. It is possible to attain union with the Self. When you do, you become the Self, a master of divine forces and powers, an angelic being upon the earth. The religious instruction given by Krishna is far superior to that given by Jesus, but it was meant for a higher class of people, those in whom the fire of longing for God had been kindled. Such people enjoy learning of all the tips and tricks for deepening spiritual awareness that they can, and then apply these in their lives. They love to hear about advanced spiritual states, and to have glorious experiences of divinity themselves. The Self of man is radiant, shining with its own light; do not doubt this. It is ever-blissful. And it is possible to attain it, as the Hindu scriptures gloriously declare in apparent defiance of Jesus, who neglected to weigh in on the matter in order to save souls who otherwise would surely have been damned.
